How They Care

Providing effective support and care is a central element of the school’s provision for pupils. When pupils arrive at Bydales they are placed in a tutor group with other pupils of the same age. Front-line support and guidance for individual pupils is provided by Form Tutors who have primary responsibility for the welfare and academic progress of all the pupils within their tutor group.

Tutors monitor attendance and punctuality at morning and afternoon registration and deliver a programme of personal, health and social education in a weekly tutorial period. The work of tutors is supported by Heads of Year who have responsibility for the pastoral care of one year group of pupils. The Deputy Headteacher has overall responsibility for pupil welfare.
